20 week Ultrasound

We had our 20 week ultrasound this morning and have our first pictures of the baby! There were 10 fingers and 10 toes so everything was looking good. In the picture on the top you can see a good profile of the baby's face. The left arm is up above the baby's head and they are sort of laying on the right arm. We spent all day yesterday watching a golf tournament so I told Shelly the baby is doing it's best Tiger Woods fist pump impression. The picture on the bottom is one of the tiny little feet! Right now the baby is breeched so it's feet are pointing down. The doctor said it wasn't a big deal because there is plenty of time left for it to get into the right position. We didn't find out the sex so it will be a big suprise when the baby is born. The ultrasound tech said even if we wanted to find out it would have been tough because the baby's legs were tucked up against it's butt. The baby wasn't very active but there were times when you could see the baby moving around. Right at the end of the ultrasound we could see the baby trying to put it's hand in it's mouth! The doctor said all the measurements checked out good and that the due date is staying the same. The baby is a whoppig 14 oz. right now and the femur is 3cm or a little over 1 inch long. Tuesday is the start of week 21 so we are over halfway through the pregnancy. We took the next picture of Shelly's belly so that picture will be up sometime soon.

Shelly's Belly Part 2!

Here is the second installment of Shelly's Belly. This picture is about a week old. As you can see her belly is slowly starting to pop. We just got done shopping for some new pants for Shelly. Her jeans are starting to get a little tight. When she was trying on pants they had a pillow for her to wear that simulated a big pregnant belly. She started laughing when she put it on. A lady in the store laughed at her and said "this must be your first baby!"

Second OB Appointment

I went to my second checkup this morning. Everything is going great! I am finally getting over the feeling sick and starting to enjoy being pregnant. I got to hear the baby's heart beat again, it was at 154 beats. I am at 17 weeks with no weight gain but some how my pants are not fitting anymore.
Our next appointment is in four weeks. We can't wait, we will have our first ultra sound. We have agreed that we are not going to find out what the sex of the baby is. So it will be a big surprise!!

1st purchase for baby

We went out today and made our first purchase for the new baby. Kid Stuff Super Store is deceiving from the street. Yes we were overwhelmed by the selections, but we both agreed on the same bedding. It will take 6 to 8 weeks to come in so Jason has an excuse not to paint for a couple more weeks. We could only handle one big decision this week. Hopefully next week will be a crib!

Shelly's Belly!

Shelly may be a bit embarrased but we're going to be taking monthly photo's of Shelly's expanding belly! It will be a neat way for us to see just how much things are actually changing and a good way for all of you that don't see us very often to see how things are going. To be fair we could be taking pictures of me to see if I'm gaining any "sympathy" weight but nobody is interested in me right now!

We're Expecting!

Yes you read it right, we are expecting our first baby this summer! August 11th to be exact. This blog is going to be an attempt to keep family and friends updated on the pregnancy so check back often to see how things are going! I'll try and catch everyone up to speed since we're already into the second tri-mester.

I didn't exactly find out that Shelly was pregnant in the most traditional matter. I was working in Las Veags the week of Dec. 8th and she was coming out to visit that weekend. I woke up at 6 a.m. Friday morning to a text message from Shelly "I think I am pregnant." I was excited and freaked out all at once because I didn't know how she was taking the news. She was a little freaked out to start but I think after we talked it helped settle us both down and just allowed us to be excited. At that time we figured she was probably between 4-6 weeks along. Up to that point she hadn't had any signals that she was pregnant but the last two months have been a different story. She's been pretty sick but it's slowly starting to ease up.

January 2nd was our first of many trips to the doctor. We got to hear the baby's heart beat which was very exciting. We didn't get to hear it for very long but the doctor didn't have any problem finding it. The baby had a heart rate of 170 beats per minute. Now that the first doctors appointment is done we've got plenty of work ahead of us before the baby comes. We'll be converting the office into the nursery which will still leave a guest room...we're guessing we might have a few more visitors late this summer.
